Have you been waiting for God to fulfill his promises in your life? Perhaps he’s promised you so many things and it seems like you’re standing just waiting for him to do it. You’re waiting for it to happen but the enemy’s stealing it from you and it’s not happening.
Well, I’m going to show you today how to let the ground shake.
Welcome back to the Ministry Corner. Today I’m going to talk about how to let the ground shake.
What does that mean? Well, I was reading in the book of 1 Kings chapter 1 and I found some interesting verses there that stood out to me. David was old and getting on in years and he had to anoint a new king but Adonijah, his son, decided he was going to declare himself king. So he declares himself king and he sets up a big party with lots of cattle and sheep and everybody flocks to him and starts declaring, yes, he’s the king.
He’s going to succeed. He’s going to rule. It seems everyone forgot about Solomon, didn’t they? Everyone forgot about him.
You know, I always wondered how that happened. David promised that Solomon was going to be king but apparently he didn’t tell anyone or if he did they didn’t care because Adonijah just comes and steals it from him. I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel like Solomon.
Sometimes I feel like, you know, God you promised this to me but everyone’s just stealing it from me. It’s not happening. When am I going to get the promises, the things that you promised me?
But there’s an interesting verse that stood out to me. 1 Kings 1 verse 39, it says,
1 Kings 1:39 And Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
40 And all the people came up after him, and the people played with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with the sound of them. [GBMV]
I thought, you know, sometimes when all hope seems lost, like in this situation, everyone was flocking to Adonijah. Everyone was declaring him king. No one seemed to think Solomon would ever get there.
Solomon was just sitting waiting for something to happen and something did happen. The ground began to shake. The Lord will make a way if you are facing an impossible situation right now.
If you’re waiting and it seems like at the lowest point everything’s lost, everything’s been stolen from you, God can make a way through. The ground can begin to shake.
Waiting Too Long
Maybe right now you’re in this situation. Maybe you’re waiting for the ground to shake. Perhaps God promised something amazing to you or maybe you just you asked him for something.
You asked him, Lord, can you open the way in my work for me to have better finances? Can you open the for me to go into ministry for you and to preach and to teach? Whatever it is you’ve been waiting on God for.
It could be a huge vision, perhaps. If it’s a huge vision, it’s going to take longer for that to happen. But maybe it’s just something small in your life and you thought it would be easy, but it seems all hope is lost.
Well, you’re standing there crying, thinking there’s no hope. You’re waiting for the ground but it’s not shaking and you’re thinking, Lord, are you gonna do it? What if? Maybe you’re thinking to yourself, what if God doesn’t do anything? What do you do in that situation?
Remember The Promise
Well, firstly, you need to know who you are in Christ. First, you need to remember that you are a king.
Like Solomon, you have been promised the kingship. You are a queen. You have been promised to reign and rule like a queen.
When you remember that, maybe that doesn’t help, but that’s your starting point. You need to remember who you are in Christ. Instead of crying and thinking, oh, Lord, when’s it gonna happen? You need to remember who you are in him and what he has promised for you.
Like Solomon, it was promised to you. It’s not just something that was promised, but it’s an accomplished fact. God has already done it.
He’s already made you a king or a queen in him. But sometimes the enemy does not recognize it. The enemy does not recognize who you are and obviously, he wants to not recognize it.
He’s gonna say, yeah, who do you think you are? You just imagined it. You just imagined that God didn’t do that for you. You see, he’s not doing anything.
The ground is not shaking. So obviously God lied. God did not lie.
You are reigning and ruling in him. But maybe you need to remind Satan of this fact. You need to remind him of who you are.
Taking Steps
So maybe there’s a few steps you can take to do that. It could be a small step. It could be something simple.
In this story, David took a step. He took action and he anointed Solomon to remind everyone that he was king. But you know, at first David wasn’t acting.
At first David didn’t do anything. He was just minding his own business while Adonijah was stealing the kingdom from him. Well, you know, that seems kind of like David wasn’t paying attention.
Maybe like he wasn’t aware of what was going on. Well, you know, that is what it is like with God. You see, because God promised us that we are a king or a queen in him.
And in his mind, it is an accomplished fact and it is done. It’s already accomplished. It’s up to us to go out now and reign and rule as kings and queens in him.
So David didn’t do anything. He didn’t have to take any action because in his mind it was done. It was accomplished.
But you know, sometimes maybe you just need to come and re-establish that fact. Come to the Lord and be reminded of that fact. And I saw something interesting in these two verses that I read, which were the verses I read at the beginning.
Step 1 – Come to Him
You see, because the first verse talks about Zadok the priest coming and anointing with the horn of oil. And you know, sometimes that’s the first step you can take maybe. Step number one, you need to come back to him to receive his anointing.
Come to Jesus, who is your high priest. Just as Zadok was the high priest, Jesus is now your high priest. You come to him to be anointed and reminded of who you are.
So sometimes if you’re facing this situation, the first thing you need to do is come to the Lord and hear his voice. It could be as simple as hearing his voice and hearing him say to you, my child, you are a king, you are a queen, you are reigning in me and I will make a way for you. It could be that simple.
That could be all you need is to just be reminded and encouraged. It’s so easy to forget about this. We’re sitting here waiting, thinking, Lord, are you going to do anything? You just come to him to receive his empowerment and to be reminded.
And sometimes that’s all you need to go out again and carry on pushing forward and not giving up.
Step 2 – Praise
Well, the second verse in verse 40, it talks about all the people came together and played with pipes and rejoicing in great joy. Now this is the next step you could take.
Praise and worship. Praising him. Praise is a powerful a powerful step you can take.
The people sang and praised and it says the ground shook. The next step you can take once you’ve been reminded of who you are is to praise him for it, to thank him for what he has given you, to thank him for opening the way for you now and giving you the strength to go on and push through. Praise with everything that you have.
You know, if you can play an instrument, it is the most powerful thing to just take some time and play and praise him. It doesn’t have to be amazing, but when you take that time, you open the door, you take a step that releases his power into your life.
You praise him as though it is an accomplished fact, as though you are already reigning and ruling, as though the enemy has been dealt with.
The Result
And you know, in this chapter, after this happened, it said all those people at the party with Adonijah, they heard it. They heard the ground shaking and they began to scatter. They began to run.
That is what God will do for you. If you would just take a few simple steps, just come back to him and be empowered again. Begin to praise him as though it is done and then go out praising him and thanking him as though it is accomplished and it is finished.
And the ground will begin to shake. Maybe it will take a while. Maybe it won’t happen immediately.
Maybe you need to keep praising him. Maybe you need to keep coming to him to be reminded. That’s okay.
It’s fine if you come to him every day. It’s fine if every day you feel overwhelmed and you can’t make it through, but you come to him and praise him and you come to him to be anointed again and reminded of what he has given you and who he has made you to be. Then as you do that and you wait, soon the ground will begin to shake.
Soon things will start to happen suddenly in your life. There’s power in praise and worship and in coming to the Lord and thanking him for what he has done. There’s a power in it.
When you do that, when you release that into the world, all of heaven will back you up. All of heaven will come down because God promised, didn’t he? He promised that you were reigning and ruling.
And when you come to him and remind him of that fact, then he says, well, I have to back them up, don’t I? I have to back up my promise that I’ve given.
And he will move in your life and he will move in a powerful way and the ground will begin to shake and the enemy will scatter and you will see the way opening up before you.
My Prayer
Lord, I thank you for each person watching this right now. I know that you have made them kings and queens in you.
I know that you have promised something to them. There’s something there that they have, a promise, a call from you that they’re waiting to fulfill. Lord, I ask you now that as they come to you, you will reveal yourself to them in a new way.
You remind them of who they are. They’ll hear your voice in such a powerful way that they will know without a doubt that you are in control. Then as they praise you for it and thank you for it, you will open the way and the ground will begin to shake in their lives.
Let the ground shake in their lives now in the name of Jesus. Let it be moved. Let the enemy be scattered now in the name of Jesus.
Any work of the enemy that they’re trying, that is trying to stop what you have for them, neutralize it now in the name of Jesus. I ask you, Lord, that you would remove every blockage, that everything that could be holding them back will be removed and you will open the way and show them the power of praise and the power of your promise in their life now. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Thank you, Lord.
I hope that this ministry corner was a blessing to you. I hope that you will share it with others if they are in need.
And that you will go out this week expecting something to happen, expecting the ground to shake and that you will see God move in your life now.
Amen.
Amen, such a blessing from rhis message.
It’s like what I havebeen going through, waiting for God to launch me into a ministry he called me for.
