I tried confessing positive words, and things got worse…

Has this happened to you?

Perhaps you think that speaking words does not do much to change your life. You have tried, but words do not seem to make a difference.

What if I told you that you are already using words to change your life, just not in the way that you want?

That is what I want to talk about in this week’s episode of the Ministry Corner.

Inroduction

Your words don’t matter, or do they? That’s what I want to talk about today.

Welcome back to the Ministry Corner. Today I want to talk about your words and the things that you say.

Now, maybe you’ve heard it said that your words have a power, or maybe you’ve believed the opposite, that words really don’t have any power. Maybe you think they don’t mean anything, but you know words do have a power. They have a tremendous power in your life, and to bring change in your life, and you don’t realize that you are using that power right now.

You are using that power every day without realizing it. You know the scripture says in Isaiah chapter 55 verse 11, it says,

Isaiah 55:11 So will my [rhema] word be that proceeds out of my mouth: it will not return to me without having an effect, but it will bring about what I desire, and it will accomplish what I sent it to do. [GBMV]

Power in Words

So now that’s a nice scripture saying about how powerful your words really are. But why do your words have a power? Well, you know that your words come from your spirit. You see, because we have three parts to us.

We are a spirit, and a soul, and a body. You don’t realize that every time you speak words, a power goes out. And now this scripture in Isaiah talks about how the words will go out and accomplish something.

They won’t return to you empty. They will go out and accomplish something. So that means that every word you send out goes out with a purpose.

It goes out with a job to do. Now, what are the words that you’re speaking all the time? What words are you speaking in your life?

You know, I’ll guarantee that they’re negative words. I’ll guarantee there are words that are not positive.

You say, oh, this always happens to me, or something always goes wrong. And you know, maybe you’ve tried. Maybe you’ve tried to use positive words.

Have you ever tried that? You start speaking positive words. You’re doing positive confessions. They tell you to do affirmations and speak positive words, and it doesn’t seem to work.

It seems to stop working as soon as you start. Nothing happens. It doesn’t do anything.

Maybe you have a little bit of an effect. Maybe your emotions feel better, and then it stops working. But you know, your words, they’re sort of like going out there with a job to do.

And I want to ask you a question. Has every job you have done been instant? Has everything in your life been instant? No. No, it doesn’t.

Being Consistant

Often, you have to go and be consistent in something before you see a result. Now, here’s the problem. We are consistent in speaking the wrong words.

We’re consistent in speaking negative words in our lives, and you don’t even realize you do them because you say them every day. You wake up, and you say, ah, I’m always tired in the morning. You go out and something goes wrong.

You say, this always happens to me. Every day, this always happens to me. You’re reinforcing and speaking those words constantly.

You’re constantly saying what you want to happen in your life, and it’s happening. But yet, we never follow through with the positive words that we speak. You know, I don’t want to be one of those people who’s like that.

Those annoying people, you know? As soon as you say something negative, they say to you, ah, don’t say that. Don’t speak that confession. And you say, shut up, really.

You know, those people are annoying sometimes. You know, I don’t want to be like that. I’m not saying to you, never say anything.

We’re human. We fail. You are human.

I’m human. I fail. Sometimes I say bad things. Sometimes I say negative words.

Give it to The Lord

But you know, all you need to do is just give it to the Lord and say, sorry, Lord. I’m sorry that I said that negative thing.

I’m sorry that I confessed the wrong thing. And instead, confess the right words. Confess the words from your scripture for a start.

The words from the Bible are amazing words to confess and begin to speak because they have a power, and they will release a power in your life. So I just want to make you aware of this today. You know, sometimes we don’t realize that our words are having an effect because it takes time.

It takes a while before they have an effect. As the scripture said, those words will not return to you empty. They will go out and accomplish what you desire.

Having Desire

But that’s the key is you have to desire it. You see, when we speak negative words, we believe those words. Your words are only going to have power and work if you believe the words that you’re speaking.

Because when you speak words, they come from your spirit, and they contain a bit of that spiritual essence in them. And that is where the power is. It’s not in the words.

It’s in what’s coming out of your spirit. And if what’s coming out of your spirit is negative and not the word of God, not the promises that he has for you, and you believe that and you believe that’s going to happen every day, you say, this always happens to me. This always goes wrong.

And you’re believing it. It’s going to work. But when we say the positive words, we don’t really believe them.

Turn it Around

So just start today to turn things around a little bit. This week, start to speak the positive words, even if you don’t believe them yet. As they say, fake it until you make it.

Keep speaking the positive words and stop speaking the negative words. Whenever you’re tempted to speak the negative words, don’t feel guilty. If you speak them, don’t feel guilty.

Just give it to the Lord and say, forgive me, Lord. Forgive me for not trusting in you. Forgive me for not trusting that you are still in control, even when I can’t see it.

And instead speak the positive words. Turn around and say, you are in control, Lord. The situation that’s going down the tubes, you’re in control of it.

And I’m going to rest in that. And I’m going to rest in you. And I’m going to speak the positive words that you have for me.

Because the more you do that, the more your spirit will start to believe it. The more you will start to see your circumstances change. The more you will start to see the way people treat you change.

A Simple Change

If any of these things are a struggle in your life, it could be that you’re just speaking the wrong words. It could be that you just need to look to the Lord now and speak the right words. You know, recently, I’ve come to realize in the power of trusting in the Lord, even when things aren’t going the way that you want.

Sometimes you need to just have a peace, a peace inside. And if you keep speaking negative words, you don’t have that peace inside. It just makes it worse.

It puts negative pictures in your mind. So have a peace and a rest now. Trust that the Lord is in control.

Because he is in control. He is in control of your life. But you keep on licensing the enemy with your negative words.

And you know, maybe that makes you feel guilty. I don’t want to make you feel guilty. All I want to make you aware of is the fact that it’s so simple to just turn around and say, Lord, forgive me, and to speak the positive words.

Because when you’re speaking words contrary to his word, you’re not following the Lord. You’re not in his peace and his rest. And it just takes a simple step of turning to him again and saying, Lord, you are in control.

So I hope that was an encouragement to you today. I hope that was a blessing. And I hope this week, as you go out, you will begin to see change.

Conclusion

“Lord, I just ask that each person watching here now, That as they take that step, that you will be faithful and you will reward their faithfulness. And you will show that you are indeed in control. No matter what it is you are facing right now, I just ask, Lord, that you would take control now.

That as they take the simple act of just speaking the right words and saying, Lord, you are in control. You have blessed. You will provide.

You will take me through this. That they will begin to see that peace coming. That they will begin to see change actually taking place in their life.

Change that they’ve been trying to do for years. I ask you, Lord, to move upon them now and bring that change as they close the door to the negative words that you will move in their life. And you will take them through.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.”
