Welcome back to the Ministry Corner. Here are the top five reasons why you should read the Bible.

Introduction to Reading the Bible

Why should you read this book? Why should you read through all these words, stories, and chapters? Because this book contains power in it that will change your life. This book is meant to change your life. And until you read it, you’re not going to experience that.

You see, there is so much power in this book and so much to be found, and I want to show you some of the reasons why you should read it and what you’re going to find. You might be surprised by how powerful this book actually is, and what it will do to change your life.

There’s a powerful scripture in Hebrews 4:12 that speaks about this. It says,

For the word of God [is] living, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing right up to the division between soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. [GBMV]

So, if you are on the fence about reading it, or you’re not sure why you should go to so much effort every day, I want to show you five reasons now why reading this will change your life forever.

No. 1 – A Foundation

Reason number one: The Bible is a foundation. In fact, the Bible should be your foundation.

You know, when you build a building in real life, or if you want to set up anything standing upright, you need to have a solid, flat surface. That is a foundation, and it stops the building from falling over.

And in your spiritual life it’s no different. You need a solid foundation. You need something that will not be shaken and not be moved.

You need to know what you believe, and the Word of God itself says what you should build on. You should build your house on a solid rock, not on the sinking sand.

So the Word of God is your solid rock. That is why it should be the starting point of your spiritual life, and it should be at the center of everything that you do. It’s your strategy guide. It’s your blueprint of how you should build your spiritual life and your natural life, and every part of you.

So don’t neglect how important it is, because it is at the center of everything that you do in the spiritual life.

No. 2 – Change Your Spirit

Reason number two: The Word of God will change your spirit within.

Did you know that words have power? In fact, words contain spiritual essence. They contain the spirit of those who spoke them. And when you receive those words, they go into your spirit deep down inside of you and they change you. Even if you can’t tell, they’re giving you a subtle change on the inside.

All the words that you receive and that you take into your mind, go down and they change you within. Well, if you want words from a person you need to talk to them, right? You need to get them and you will get influenced by them. Then you will experience those words.

Well, God left us a book full of His words. Words that contain the Spirit of God. Words that will go down into your spirit and change you within. So, it’s very important that you read the Word of God because it’ll change you.

And you know, sometimes your spirit becomes contaminated with dirt. It feels blocked, and reading the Word of God is like putting clean water down into your spirit and cleansing it from within.

So read the Word today and experience a change within. The more you do it, the more change you will have, and the more your spirit will be clean and free. Then you’ll be able to live a life of blessing that God has for you.

No. 3 – Learn How God Thinks

Reason number three to read the Bible. When you read the Bible, you will learn how God thinks. God has a certain way of thinking. He has a certain view on this world, on people and on His children.

And you know, we think we understand how God thinks. We think we know what He wants. But unless you come to know a person, you’ll never fully understand them. Unless you talk to a person, you’re not going to get to know them very well.

And the next best thing, if you can’t talk to them, is to read their words, to read their writing and what they think. The Word of God will give you insight into what God thinks and how He thinks, into His grace and His love, and into how holy He is and how He doesn’t accept sin.

All of these things are different aspects of God that you will not understand until you read the Word. So what better reason to read the Word than to come to know your God? To come to know your Savior, how He thinks, and to know what plans He has for you.

It’s very important that you know God. And reading the Word is one of the biggest ways you will come to know God.

No. 4 – A Hidden Mystery

Reason number four to read the Bible. Did you know that there is a mystery in the Bible? There’s a mystery hidden in there for you to find, that God has placed there just for you.

The Bible is like a jungle. It’s like a maze full of so many different things. There are so many different kinds of plants, insects, and animals all hidden in there and all spread across this wide jungle.

You have to walk down the paths in the jungle. You have to cut new paths and find things. And I think that’s an exciting reason to read the Word, don’t you? It’s to find new things and mysteries that God left for you.

There are so many things in there that’ll speak to different people, and yet not speak to others because God left a mystery for you to solve. He left promises for you to find.

He left things for you to find that will touch you and speak to you only and to your life. And until you go through that jungle and try to find them, you won’t find them.

So go into the Word and solve the mystery. Ask questions as you’re reading the Word. Ask the hard questions about your spiritual life, and see if you can find the answers.

Isn’t that an exciting reason to read the Word of God, so that you can find answers for yourself? And you can experience the joy and blessing that there is in the Word of God.

No. 5 – Find Peace and Assurance

Reason number five why you should read the Bible. Are you looking for peace and assurance? You will find peace and assurance in the Bible. Do you know why? Because the Bible has all the answers to what you are looking for.

It has the answer to your restlessness and the answer to your problems. If you’re looking for these things, you will find them in the Bible. The Bible contains promises that will speak to you alone, and that will give you the answer that you’re looking for.

So what better reason to read it, than to find those answers and the promises that you want, and to find what God wants for your life.
