Introduction
Welcome back to the Ministry Corner.
Did you praise the Lord today? You may say to me, that’s a strange question. I mean, obviously I praise the Lord all the time, but did you really praise the Lord today? Did you wake up this morning and say, praise you Jesus.
What was the first thing you said when you woke up? What was the first thing you thought about? I want to share with you a powerful principle about how powerful praise is. Because you see, we praise the Lord all the time. So much, in fact, that you sometimes forget how powerful it really is.
You forget that it really has such a power to change your life. But sometimes you forget to praise Him at certain times. Those times when something goes wrong.
Those times when things don’t go the way that you want. Then what? Do you praise the Lord? Well, you know, that is when you should be praising the Lord. Because the Lord, praising Him is like a sacrifice.
It’s saying, Lord, you are in control. No matter what. No matter whether things are good.
No matter whether things are bad.
Keep Speaking Words
Whenever you praise, perhaps you just say, praise you Lord. It’s just a short phrase.
It’s just a little thing you say. And you don’t feel like it has much power do you? You don’t feel like it’s really having a big impact. But you know, it’s almost like every time you say that, it’s like you send up some vapors into the air.
So like, imagine the ground is dry and you are waiting for the rain to come. You’re waiting for the Lord to provide. You’re waiting for Him to pour His rain, pour His blessing out on you.
And there’s not a sign of a cloud in the sky. You know, it must be so frustrating like if you’re a farmer and you’re waiting for the clouds to come and it’s like there’s not a sign, just nothing. Well, you know, in your spiritual life, you can feel that way.
But you know, every time you praise, you just say, praise you Lord. You use your mouth to speak out. You speak it out loud, those words.
It’s like you send a vapor into the air. Just a small vapor and it doesn’t do very much. But you keep on speaking and you keep on saying, praise you Lord.
I trust your word. I trust that what you said is true. Praise your name.
It’s like the more you send up more and more vapors until eventually, suddenly a cloud starts to form and something starts to arise and soon the rain comes. And you don’t know when it happened. You don’t know how it happened.
But you kept on praising and you kept on being faithful. Keep on praising today because as you do, you are sending up those vapors. Those vapors are gonna form a cloud and the rain is going to come and the Lord is gonna reward your faithfulness and he’s gonna pour it out on you.
The Power of Praise
If you want to know the true power of praise and worship, just read in the scriptures. In Acts 16:25, it says,
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were removed. [GBMV]
You see, they probably didn’t think at first that praise was gonna do much. But they kept praising and suddenly an earthquake came.
You know, they were probably praising all the time. It wasn’t new for them. They knew how to praise.
That’s why as soon as they started praising, the power came. Don’t neglect the power of praise and worship in your life. Don’t neglect the power of just saying, praise you Lord.
Sow A Seed
Because it’s like sowing a seed. My father taught in his series On the Way of Blessing about sowing into the spiritual, into your spiritual bank account through faith, hope and love. And he mentioned in there that if you’ve got nothing else to sow, if you’ve got nothing to give, if you’ve got nothing you can do, you can praise the Lord.
You could still sow into your heavenly bank account. You can sow and invest by praising him no matter what. Keep praising him today, and I know that it will change your life.
David knew the power of praise. The Psalms are filled with it. In Psalms 42:11 it says,
Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope in God: for I will yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God. [GBMV]
Praise and worship will bring you health. It’ll bring you health in your spirit and in your soul and in your body. Praise him today and you will see the change in your life.
I hope this has been a blessing to you. If it has, share it with someone else who needs to hear it, and I’ll see you in the next ministry corner.
