One of my favorite stories in the bible is the story of David and Goliath. I was in awe when my dad would read the story to me. David, just a little guy, took down this huge giant with just a sling and a stone.
I saw myself as that little guy facing this huge guy who was as tall as a building in front of me. I couldn’t understand how that actually worked.
Well in reality, Goliath was not as tall as I imagined, but it is still an amazing story.
What is great about this story is that David had so much confidence. He knew that when he threw that stone, he was going to bring down this giant. He was so bold, he said:
“Who is this guy to defy the armies of the living God?”
He was in a way saying:
“Are you guys stupid? We got God on our side!”
David knew something. He knew that when he threw that stone, it was not just him going against the enemy, but the armies of the living God. He knew that all he had to do was go out in faith and throw the stone, and God would back him up.
God is fighting for you right now. He is here to back you up all the way. But maybe you need to start by throwing the stone.
He knew this because he had already had experience fighting a lion and a bear.
What giant are you facing in your life right now? Is it your health that’s bad? Are you struggling with finances or at work? Maybe a person is standing in your way.
Whatever your problem is, it may seem huge, like a giant that you cannot overcome. So you think it is pointless even trying to throw the stone. Instead, you wait and hope God will fix the problem.
No, you need to start by throwing the stone in faith and trust that God will back you up.
What does it mean to throw the stone? It means to speak the word of God against your problem. After you have done all you can in the natural, you speak out His word and His promises. You speak what the scripture says about this, and you confess it.
Then, when you have done all you can do, stand back and trust that God will keep His word. He will never fail to do so. Have faith in His word.
The scripture says,
Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will complete [it] until the day of Jesus Christ: [GBMV]
So speak now. You can trust that those promises He gave, He will also fulfill. See the armies of heaven fighting for you and know that He will come through and that the giant will fall.
He will never let you down.
